Tilling of the Beach! Softer sand for Beachgoers and Sea Turtles!

In case your were wondering the large yellow machine that is going up and down the beach is tilling the sand.  This is required by the FDEP permit for the construction of the Western Walton County Beach Restoration Project. This is a requirement for 3 years after the beach has been renourished. This will be complete prior to May 1st.  It will loosen the sand for sea turtle nesting and softer sand for beachgoers.

Sunday on the Beach

Everyday is a great day when you spend it on the beach in Sandestin and that is where I was on Sunday!  Nice Breeze to keep you cool while sunbathing.  The Gulf of Mexico was emerald green – sky was blue and pretty white fishing boats going by.  It just doesn’t get much better than this.  The fishing boats are fishing for Cobia.  Just down the beach was a very nice couple and they were fishing from shore.  It was fun watching their lines because they were catching fish.  I could feel their excitement when they had a bite and started to reel in.  While I was watching they caught 2 pompano.  I took a photo but it didn’t save correctly – otherwise you would be seeing it now.  That was their dinner for the evening.  Great relaxing day!

Welcome!

It is a beautiful time in Sandestin.  The azaleas are in full bloom and are georgeous.  The white sand beaches and emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico are so inviting.  This is a wonderful place to spend your Spring vacation.
