The unit was very nice, comfortable, GREAT view. 

The Westwind complex was great, and Sandestin resort was wonderful. 

Furthermore the oil has NOT affected the beach. 

We swam in the ocean, spent lot's of time on beach and had NO

trouble.  Walton County and Sandestin are doing a first rate job

at keeping it away, dispite the government's unwillingness to help. 

I can't say what it will be like next week or a month from now,

but we had a wonderful vacation. Plus there is a LOT to do in sandestin

on the bay side if need be.

There have been no recent reports of oil on our 26-mile coastline, and visitors continue enjoying all 15 of our beach communities.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office reported today that a large marine storage tank that appears to be from the Deepwater Horizon rig washed ashore on Miramar Beach this weekend.  The tank was intact with no apparent leaks, and is being transported to New Orleans as part of the ongoing investigation into the oil rig explosion.

According to the Florida DEP, mild winds and limited precipitation will provide more favorable conditions for offshore recovery operations over the next few days.

Santa Rosa Beach, FL (May 4, 2010) – 

            A report currently appearing on CNNiREPORT.com states that oil is washing ashore on Miramar Beach.  This report is inaccurate.  Walton County Sheriff’s Office personnel have been monitoring Walton County’s 26 miles of beach and officials have confirmed there is no oil along the shoreline. The photos that were posted on CNNiReport are the result of heavy rains and tidal action creating a brown film, which is a normal occurrence in the Gulf of Mexico. The U.S. Coast Guard has reported that the closest oil sighting is 55 miles south of Pensacola in the Gulf of Mexico.
